On this day, I began a slower trip driving around the country. Well, a bit slower. It turned out to only be about 1000 miles from Portland to Fountain Valley, which is a long drive. A long, but doable drive. I left Portland around 2 am and I reached northern California by sunrise, where I took a series of pictures of Mount Shasta:

Once I got to the Grapevine, just north of the mountains which are north of Los Angeles, I stopped to let rush hour traffic relax. I got to Fountain Valley by about 7:30 pm.
I spent the rest of the week and the Labor Day weekend at home with Mom and Dad in Fountain Valley.
