September 8-10, 1999: Fountain Valley, California to Albuquerque, New Mexico

From Fountain Valley I drove the short 70 miles or so to Temecula, in Riverside County, to visit my friend Jeff (not pictured). That took care of the 8th. After spending the night at his parents' house, I took off for points east on the 9th, getting as far as Flagstaff, Arizona that evening. I had planned on driving through Phoenix on Interstate 10, but one easy sightseeing stop was to go a bit north and take I-40. Early on the 10th, around sunrise, I stopped just east of Flagstaff at the moderately famous Meteor Crater:

I only drove a little bit the rest of the day. In the early afternoon, I stopped in Albuquerque.
